Participation of Students in the All-Ukrainian Essay Competition “1000 Days of War” by the “Voices of Peace” Museum of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation

In November 2024, students of the Prydniprovskyi Metallurgical Applied College took part in the All-Ukrainian essay competition “1000 Days of War,” organized by the “Voices of Peace” Museum of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.

The competition aimed to give a voice to the young generation who are experiencing the war not from textbooks but in real life. In their essays, students shared personal reflections, emotions, and hopes that accompanied them throughout the thousand days of the full-scale invasion. These are stories of fear and loss, support and solidarity, belief in victory, and the power of unity.

Participation in the competition was a deeply emotional experience and an opportunity for students to recognize their own place in Ukraine’s contemporary history, preserve the memory of what they’ve lived through, and share meaningful insights with the nation.

 

 

 

Participation of PMАC Students in the National Media Literacy Project "Filter"

In January 2025, first- and second-year students participated in the the National Media Literacy Project "Filter", initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, by taking part in the All-Ukrainian Competition of Student Video Reports "Reporter – 2024."

The competition offered participants a unique opportunity to try themselves in the role of journalists, develop critical thinking and communication skills, and connect with leading Ukrainian journalists and media experts.

Within the competition, students prepared short video reports on the following topics:

-         "Culture is Us": highlighting local traditions, cultural landmarks, and artists of their native region;

-         "Mental Health as a Guarantee of Resilience";

-         "My Superheroes": stories of individuals who inspire and contribute to positive change in the country.

Participation in this project was a significant step in shaping students' media literacy, strengthening their civic engagement, and encouraging their active participation in the country's informational life.

 

 

Participation of the college’s Student Self-Government in the “aGAIN 3.0” Program

In February2025, the United Nations Development Programme announced a new round of applications to the workshop for the development of student self-governance bodies, "aGAIN 3.0." “aGAIN 3.0.” This initiative aims to develop the potential of young people as agents of change, capable of actively participating in decision-making and recovery processes within educational institutions and communities. The student self-government team of ourinstitution submitted an application for participation, presenting their own achievements, outlining current challenges, and detailing their strategic vision for development. As a result of the competitive selection process, our educational institution was selected to participate in the workshop.

After completing the training, the participants, inspired by their new knowledge and practices, initiated a survey among the institution's teachers and students. Based on the collected data, a grant project “New Study – What Students Need” was developed and submitted.

The goal of the project is to modernize the educational process by providing training for teachers in modern teaching methods that will enhance the effectiveness of learning and align it more closely with the current needs of the student community.

The project is aimed at:

-improving mutual understanding between students and lecturers;

-enhancing the quality of teaching;

-strengthening cooperation between the administration, teaching staff, and student self-government.

This is another step towards creating an open, flexible, and progressive educational environment at our educational institution.

 

Students' Participation in an International Environmental Competition

In February 2025, teachers of the Prydniprovskyi Metallurgical Applied College, Nataliia Kramar and Kateryna Khavikova, organized the participation of first-year students in the international competition "From Ecological Anxiety to Ecological Action and Empowerment," which was held by the charitable organization Trust for Sustainable Living.

Within the competition, the students worked on a research project "Climate change and "Green" metallurgy," focusing on the current environmental challenges faced by the city of Kamianskedue to the intensive development of the metallurgical industry.

The project participants analyzed the consequences of anthropogenic impact and also developed proposals for implementing the principles of "green metallurgy" through waste recycling, pollution reduction, and the ecological modernization of production.

 

 

Students' Participation in the Grant Competition for Scientific Works "Newest Intellect of Ukraine"

With the aim of engaging the intellectual potential of young people in shaping Ukraine's development strategy, first- and second-year students of the Prydniprovskyi Metallurgical Applied College participated in the grant project organized by the public initiative "Newest Intellect of Ukraine"іn February 2025.

Under the guidance of teachers Elina Kobzeva and Iryna Bryzhalova, the students presented their own ideas in two competition categories:

-“Thematic Research Competition” — focusing on current issues of social and economic development;

-“Creation of Business Ideas for Charitable Foundations” — with a focus on social entrepreneurship and community support.

Participation in the project became for students not only an opportunity to implement their own ideas, but also a practical experience in developing strategic initiatives that address the current challenges of Ukrainian society.

 

 

Participation in the “MOTIVATION OF THE UNBROKEN 3.0: Development Vector” Competition

In February2025, college teacher Zoreslava Osada took part in the social competition “MOTIVATION OF THE UNBROKEN 3.0: Development Vector,” whichaimed to support educational institutionsstriving for improvement and development together with their students and educators.Within the competition, a thorough analysis of the city's educational institutions was conducted, examining their development strategies, strengths, and advantages.Based on this research, our institution developed its own “Improvement Plan for 2025–2026,” which is grounded on current educational trends and student needs.

 

Student Participation in the LikesID Grant Program

In March 2025 the students of PMAC participated in the grant program "Responsible Use of Social Networks: Challenges and Opportunities", organized by the LikesID platform.

The program aims to develop analytical thinking, creative approach, and digital awareness among young people by fostering a deeper understanding of the impact of social networks on everyday life.The participants explored how responsible digital consumption affects productivity, emotional well-being, interpersonal relationships, and career building.

As part of the program, students prepared essays on the topic “Digital Compass: How Responsible Use of Social Media Shapes My Path to Success.”The goal of this assignment was not only to showcase a personal perspective on digital behavior but also to encourage students to recognize their own role in shaping a safe and conscious information environment.

Participation in this program proved to be a valuable experience for the students in the context of developing digital ethics, media literacy, and social responsibility.

 

Participation in the Grant Competition “Time to Act, Ukraine!”

In April 2025, teachers of electrical engineering disciplines at the Prydniprovskyі Metallurgical Applied College submitted the project “Electrical Power Laboratory” to the grant competition “Time to Act, Ukraine!”, organized by the charitable organization “MHP-Gromadi.”

The goal of the project is to modernize the educational environment by creating a state-of-the-art laboratory, which will enhance the quality of training for students in electrical engineering specialties.

The project involves the purchase of training stands that simulate the operation of a heat pump and a solar power system, as well as providing training for teachers on how to use the new equipment.

Expected results include:

-improvement of practical training of education seekers;

-development of modeling and design skills;

-strengthening cooperation with enterprises and increasing the competitiveness of graduates.

The project team hopes that the implementation of this initiative will allow the college to become a regional center of advanced technical education in the field of energy.

 

 

Participation in the Multi-Donor Initiative Skills4Recovery

As part of a large-scale program for the recovery of Ukrainian vocational education, in April 2025, the Prydniprovskyі Metallurgical Applied College became an active participant in the Multi-Donor Initiative Skills4Recovery.This program aims to support educational institutions that train specialists in the fields of construction, transport and logistics, agriculture, and the service sector.

The program is being implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Solidarity Fund PL (SFPL) with the financial support of the European Union, Germany, Poland, and Estonia.The program aims to modernize vocational education in Ukraine and train qualified specialists for the country's economic recovery.

The college took part in the grant competition by submitting a project that aligns with the current needs of the labor market and proposes the implementation of innovative solutions in the training of specialists in the construction industry.

Participation in Skills4Recovery confirms the institution’s strategic orientation towards updating the content and forms of education, developing its material and technical base, and integrating into the European educational space. This is a significant contribution to the formation of human resources for the reconstruction of infrastructure and the sustainable development of Ukraine’s economy.

 

 

 

Student Participation in the All-Ukrainian Essay Competition Organized by the “Voices of Peace” Museum of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation

In May 2025, students of PMАC took part in the All-Ukrainian essay competition “An Event That Changed My Life. The Power of Help,” organized by the “Voices of Peace” Museum of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.

The competition aimed to provide young people with a space to reflect on personal experiences related to times of crisis and to rethink the importance of support—whether from loved ones, society, or the state. In their essays, students shared personal stories that became turning points in their lives, highlighting the power of humanity, mutual aid, and resilience.

Participation in the competition became an important step for students in developing emotional intelligence, reflective thinking, creative writing skills, and understanding the vital role of community support in challenging times.
